  • [H3] If the near-total ban on the use of lead ammunition comes into force without a meaningful transition period, up to €4 billion and over 16,000 jobs could be lost, with associated welfare costs totaling €1.4 billion in the EEA.
  • [H3] Only a few months have passed since the intensely-debated ban on the use of lead shot in European wetlands was adopted, and we’re already facing a much broader ban on all lead ammunition in other types of terrain.
  • [H3] If the ban on the use of lead ammunition becomes reality, one-off costs related to the modification and replacement of millions of firearms could potentially reach €14.5 billion. Moreover, it is estimated to cause 25% of hunters to stop hunting entirely, and at least 30% to hunt less frequently.
